Federal Protective Service Updated Mask Enforcement Guidance.
OMB issued guidance (M-21-15) based on the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People. Consistent with that guidance, the information below provides immediate updates to Federal workplace COVID-19 safety guidance and FPS’s enforcement actions.
- In areas of substantial or high community transmission, agencies must require all Federal employees, onsite contractors, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask inside of Federal buildings.
- Federal employees, onsite contractors, and visitors who are not fully vaccinated also need to continue to physically distance consistent with CDC guidance.
- Agencies should, as soon as possible, post signs and post information online on agency websites making clear what masking requirements apply in each Federal facility.

For Immediate Release:
Vice President Kamala Harris cast the tiebreaking vote to confirm President Biden’s nominee to run the Office of Personnel Management, Kiran Ahuja, overcoming Republican objections to her nomination that centered on her views on racial justice.
Ms. Ahuja’s confirmation follows a tumultuous period at the federal human resources agency. O.P.M. had five different directors, three of them acting. “Kiran Ahuja is a qualified, experienced and dedicated public servant who we are looking forward to leading the Office of Personnel Management in its work protecting the safety of the work force, empowering federal employees, and building a federal work force that looks like America,” said Chris Meager, a White House spokesman.
